Description of Duties
Manages one or more information systems functions for specific user group/functional area.
Responsible to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT Manager will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The IT Manager will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This person will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices for their assigned area.
The managerial role of Infrastructure Manager - Middleware/Database Engineering has responsibility for the following assigned IT Technology areas or functions:
All Enterprise Service Bus
All J2EE application containers, common services and elements
All ESB framework services
All Oracle, Microsoft SQL or other databases
Apache & Tomcat
Initiates and implements database and middleware solutions
Serves as main point of contact for all database and middleware related matters
Manage information technology and computing systems/software
Manage human resources to effectively support personnel growth and appropriate use of technology
Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware/software
Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access
Manages design and operation of Enterprise Service Bus
Develops and maintains the standards for J2EE application containers
Develops framework services for the ESB
Develops common services and elements for J2EE application containers
Ensures high availability of critical components of ESB through design, monitoring, and training of operation staff
Works with Analysts and Customers to provide accurate and clear insight about our business.
Oversees processes and mechanisms to ensure the reliable and consistent operation of Enterprise Service Bus.
Oversee operation of Enterprise Service Bus.
Oversee standards for deployment of application servers.
Oversee shared enterprise services for execution within ESB.
Oversee shared tools for services to use involving logging, performance metrics, and other common functions.
Oversee, manages and deploys architectures to ensure high availability of applications such as application load balancers.
Oversee system design and engineering of hardware and software to support Oracle standalone, RAC databases, and Oracle Applications.
Leverage technologies such as partitioning, load balancing, replication, and caching in design to meet performance needs.
Oversee the design and engineering of database tables and objects to ensure maximum performance and availability.
Oversee the design and implement synchronous and asynchronous replication as appropriate to ensure recovery and reporting.
Leverages Control-M to automate tasks and manage the environment.
Oversee integration of database monitoring into Zenoss operational monitoring.
Oversee design and engineering of database tables and objects to ensure maximum performance and availability
Partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to identify data storage and retrieval solutions
Key participant in defining and executing the future database technologies
Keeps current on Oracle Database release changes and patches, and works with the business and IT stakeholders to assess impact
Leads the design and architecture for databases (warehouses and OLTP)
Manages day to day operation, tuning, backup, and monitoring of databases
Liaisons with IT managers, development and technical support teams ensuring needs are met
Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and enhance business relationships
Schedules and conducts monthly security compliance meetings.
Planning and execution of database and enterprise bus additions, upgrades, and changes for all NOA sites.
Oversees the administration and maintenance of the company's database and enterprise bus infrastructure, and provides technical guidance/direction to engineers as needed.
Reviews and approves all database and enterprise bus infrastructure changes prior to implementation.
JSOX, PCI and risk assessments scheduling, plans, and mitigation.
Maintains related disaster recovery plans, scripts, and coordinates testing.
Manages database and middleware related incidents and problems.
Oversees the administration of the database and middleware.
Works with project teams to help implement new systems and applications.
Action Memo and invoice review/approvals.
Builds and maintains relationships with vendors to include contract negotiations and establishment of service agreements
Summary of Requirement
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience, including leadership and employee development.
In-depth understanding of Information Technology Organization, Processes, Procedures, Controls, Standards, Platforms, Technologies and Best Practices for assigned areas
Understanding of video game distribution business and industry
Strong understanding of company and IT department organization, objectives, goals and culture
Understanding the preferred IT environments, technologies, and architectures
Demonstrated management and leadership skills
Strong understanding of corporate polices and compliance (i.e. information security, privacy, Jsox, risk management, disaster recovery, etc.)
Strong knowledge of management, programming, operational and complexity aspects of information technology
Ability to make sound strategic decision, prioritize multiple projects and work in fast-paced, confidential environment

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent. Post-graduate coursework may be desirable or required
