Vertafore is looking for a Database Developer II for its BenefitPoint Development team in Bothell, WA.
Responsible for installation, maintenance, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery and troubleshooting for development and production of large-scale databases and warehouses.
Requirements:
· Design/Recommend/write and/or maintain SQL code to support development of BenefitPoint products and services. Experienced in Oracle 10g.
· Estimate SQL code development resource needs for proposed custom products and services.
· Write PL/SQL stored procedures and/or review stored procedures written by programmers.
· Experience with Oracle SQL Loader
· Provide expert help to programmers and customer support as needed.
· Help in Oracle server performance monitoring and tuning efforts
· Provide expert advice on data access and schema design.
· Investigate new or previously unused features of the database management system.
· Aid in definition and documentation of DBMS and SQL standards.
· Write and/or participate in the development of database tools
· Provide expertise to the quality assurance (QA) organization to aid in the development of test processes and procedures involving database transaction
Qualifications:
· Knowledgeable in database design concepts and methods
Previous programming experience in C, C++, VB or other 3GL in the Linux and MS Windows environment. Some shell scripting experience desired: C shell, Bourne shell, Bash, Korn shell
· Knowledge of data access methods under Linux environment
· Web development and data access techniques including XML
· Requires 4-5 years experience in writing medium to complex SQL statements and stored procedures, in addition to database experience supporting large scale applications
· Desire to learn and expand skills to meet both personal and team goals.
· Ability to work productively, both independently and in a group environment.
· Expected to put forth extra effort when necessary to get the job done.
· Expected to speak out and defend views but also able to listen and accept compromise when necessary and appropriate.
· Ability to work well with others
· Java and J2EE experience a plus
· Linux experience a plus
· .Net experience a plus
· Accounting and/or Insurance Industry experience a plus

Education:
Associates and/or bachelors degree preferred.
